Quarantine Read #3 Take Two

I like the idea of actually book talking titles so that I can try to connect with students even through the quarantine.  However, I want to post to instagram, so I am also designing book trailers that are under 1 minute.  I will be posting them here as well so that those who want to hear a book talk can choose that video, and those that just want a quick--very quick visual synopsis can choose the take 2 less than a minute option.

Quarantine Reads #3 A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting by Joe Ballarini

It is time for another book talk of a book that you can find through our digital platform for ebooks, Mackinvia.  I encourage you to check it out.

Quarantine Read #2

Here is the second in the series I have titled Quarantine Reads.  I am choosing books that we have available in our online platform, MackinVia, so that students have easy access to them.  This is one that I listened to, and the audio is great.  Happy reading!

#YAMSReads 5

Here are the books that the faculty is reading during the 5th six weeks.  Maybe we can get some of them to comment on them in the weeks to come.  I can say that all 6 were great.  I will discuss them more later.

Quarantine Read 1 Take 2

As we venture into ways to connect with students, I found that what I thought about one form of communication was not correct.  So, I had to make a MUCH shorter book talk or book trailer.  Here is the same book--but in a much abbreviated form.  Hope you enjoy.  No wordiness in this one.

The Lovely and the Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Good fast-paced adventure mystery.  Kira was found by Cady when she was a little girl lost in the woods. Kira had been in the woods for over a week and was traumatized by the experience.  Cady adopted Kira and helped her deal with her past. Cady trains search and rescue dogs and has taught Kira and her son, Jude, along with a close family friend, Free, the business of search and rescue.
One day, a man comes with a case for Cady to help with, and they all pack up to find a little girl lost in the woods by Cady’s hometown.
This case brings up all kinds of secrets of the past which could get in the way of them finding Belle in time.
I really liked this mystery. I thought that Barnes kept the suspense coming and the ending was a surprise for me. Which doesn’t happen too often.
Definitely recommend this good read.
